A LITTLE BIT OF MY STORY...
Thanks for visiting my name is Dave and I am the wood crafter / maker behind Keane wood craft.
I design and make from a mini self build workshop in the rather lovely coastal town of Tramore in Co. Waterford.
Since a very young age I have always loved making things with wood. I even remember cutting the edge of my parent's kitchen table while learning to use a coping saw. I can't have been more than 7 or 8.
I am self thought mostly and am constantly trying new techniques and methods. I am a big fan of refurbishing and reusinf old period hand tools, they really were built to last. Some of my go to tools are at least 100 years old.
I keep an eye out for wood to reclaim as I believe strongly in reducing waste and reusing materials. Driftwood and scaffold planks are a favourite.
For most of my projects I will mainly use manual hand tools. I enjoy how silent and satisfying it is to complete something using my own energy.
Keeping in mind the environmental impact of everything I do I will try to make a wood joint or dowel instead of screws or other metal fixing.
I will use newer timbers of course and try to use ethically sourced materials only.
There is great satisfaction to making something unique and special for somebody else.
Take a quick look around and feel free to get in contact and see what I can do for you.
